PLANE MISSING: Police say the weather is fine and sea calm at the site of the search for a Piper Cherokee aircraft near the Waipara river mouth. Two bags from the plane have been found in the sea.

QUEENSTOWN: A resident whose house is threatened at Frankton is threatening court action against the Queenstown Lakes District Council.

TIMARU GIRLS: Taxpayers are still paying dearly for an employment dispute at Timaru Girls High School.

POTHOLERS FOUND: Seven potholers who have spent the last 10 days underground in France have now emerged – alive. The search had become desperate for the seven potholers.
