Fed Farmers Agreement With Northland Struck

AGREEMENT WITH NORTHLAND STRUCK

The President of Federated Farmers of New Zealand (Inc), Alistair Polson, and Northland Federated Farmers of New Zealand (Inc) President, Ian Walker, today announced that agreement had been reached to settle the protracted dispute between the National Federation and the Northland province.

The agreement sets out a programme, which will further progress all avenues that will allow Northland to participate with full membership status within the Federation.

The agreement also outlines how the National organisation and Northland will operate the National and Northland Sharemilker of the Year Competition.

This settlement agreement can only allow the New Zealand Federated Farmers movement to grow even stronger by both merging their common interests.

Both the National organisation and Northland are committed to protecting and enhancing the social and economic well-being of our rural members and as a result of our agreement, we are now prioritising the reestablishment of our relationship.

Already constructive meetings have been conducted and we are both committed to further progress in the immediate future.

Mr Polson said today that he would be attending the Northland Federated Farmers Annual Conference to be held in May 2000 and that the National Chief Executive, Tony St. Clair would be attending and participating on the Northland Federated Farmers site at the Northland Field Days to be held in Dargaville on March 2, 3 and 4, 2000.
