ACT Seeks Inquiry Into Auckland Council
ACT MP Owen Jennings is seeking a Select Committee
inquiry into the widespread allegations of Auckland City
Council's "gross mis-management" of its regulatory function
under the Resource Management Act, the Building Act and
other related Acts.
Mr Jennings says there is growing
evidence of a council unable to reign in the excesses of its
staff, of harassed residents reluctant to speak out for fear
of retribution, of ruined businesses and lost
opportunities and a dangerous interpretation of important

Committee hearing is the only course of actin that will
bring them justice. The Select Committee is ideally suited
to bring the truth to light and put in place remedial
action," Mr Jennings said.
