Clarification of Reuters story on HNZ bonds
The Treasury and the Finance Minister's Office have received a number of inquiries seeking clarification of comments made by Dr Cullen on the future of Housing New Zealand and the implications of that for HNZ bonds.
Dr Cullen was giving a hypothetical answer to a hypothetical question. He was asked if the Government converted HNZ back into a department, what would happen to HNZ bonds.
No decision has been taken on the future structure and status of HNZ. Neither is one expected in the near future.
