GOVERNMENT SILENCE ON SCHOOL STAFFING CAUSING CHAOS
“The Government’s silence on the system it plans to use for staffing schools next year is causing real anxiety and concern for principals and teachers at bulk-funded schools,” New Zealand First Education Spokesperson, Brian Donnelly, said today.
“The Minister of Education, Trevor Mallard, announced before Christmas that bulk-funding would be out by the year 2001 but since then schools have been told nothing.
“Schools are well within their planning cycle but are being left up in the air. Morale is low as teachers fear for their future.
“The Minister needs to act now and inform schools about what his new system will look like so that schools can begin planning,” said Mr Donnelly.
