ACT today congratulated Maori MP Parekura Horomia on his appointment as the Government’s new Minister of Maori Affairs.

ACT’s Maori Affairs spokesman Donna Awatere Huata said the new Minister had a hard task ahead of him.

Ms Awatere Huata said Mr Horomia’s appointment was also an historic one.

“He Follows in the foot steps of Sir Apirana Ngata, a great Maori leader from Mr Horomia’s own tribe, Ngati Porou, and one of the most effective Minister’s this country’s ever seen.

“Mr Horomia has a big role to fill and I wish him well,” Ms Awatere Huata said.
