Premature Waitara Comments Show Lack Of Judgement

Premature Waitara Comments By Pm Showed Same Lack Of Judgement As Shown With Dover Samuels

The Rt Hon Winston Peters MP, Leader of New Zealand First, today said that in light of the Police Investigation clearing the Police Officer involved in the Waitara Shooting, the Prime Minister must be regretting her premature comments on this matter, in the same way she must wish she could take back her initial comments on the Dover Samuels matter where she said she would stand by her Minister if he was cleared by the Police.

“Both incidents show a lack of judgement which reflect poorly on any leader”, said Mr Peters.

Mr Peters re-iterated his call for an independent body to replace the existing Police Complaints Authority and questioned why the Police Investigation into the Waitara Shooting had taken so long and why the Police Complaints Authority Report is still several weeks away.
