Peters Slams Turia For Psycho-Babble: Attempt To Excuse The Inexcusable

The Rt Hon Winston Peters MP, Leader of New Zealand First, this evening slammed Labour MP Tariana Turia for her patronising attitude towards Maori claiming they are suffering from Post Colonial Traumatic Stress Disorder.

“Maori are in desperate need of leaders like Merepeka Raukawa-Tait who are prepared to acknowledge Maori problems and look at potential solutions. That will help Maori, and all New Zealand, more than Tariana Turia’s psycho-babble ever will,” said Mr Peters.

Mr Peters said that not only is Tariana Turia attempting to excuse the inexcusable but far from addressing the problem her comments will only serve to exacerbate the present crisis.

“Until Maori are encouraged to take responsibility for their actions, along with all other New Zealanders, we will only be promoting the continuation of the appalling statistics relating to Maori in all of the key social areas,” said Mr Peters.
