Briefing – World Conference on Climate Change
Pete Hodgson, Convenor of
the Ministerial Group on Climate Change, will speak at a
Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade briefing for
journalists next Monday on his visit to The Hague 2000 World
Conference on Climate Change next month.
The conference is expected to finalise agreement on the Kyoto Protocol, an international agreement to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The Hague conference is the most important climate change conference since the Kyoto Protocol was adopted in 1997. More than 175 countries which ratified the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change will be represented.
Mr Hodgson and officials will represent New Zealand at the conference.
