Press Release: New Zealand Government

Customs Minister Phillida Bunkle feels vindicated that a
Parliamentary Service report on her claims and entitlements
clears her of any suggestion that she wrongfully claimed an
accommodation allowance, but she's not surprised.
"The
rules are designed to ensure that MPs do not have to give up
their family home in order to work at Parliament, even
though many of us have to spend a lot of time away from home
at our Parliamentary jobs.
"I always believed that I acted
within the sprit and the letter of the rules. I informed
Parliamentary Service about everything. I always tried to
check that what I was doing was appropriate and I followed
the advice I received," Phillida Bunkle
said.

Gordon Campbell: On the Sony cyber attack
Given the layers of meta-irony involved, the saga of the Sony cyber attack seemed at the outset more like a snarky European art film than a popcorn entry at the multiplex.
Yet now with (a) President Barack Obama weighing in on the side of artistic freedom and calling for the US to make a ‘proportionate response’quickly followed by (b) North Korea’s entire Internet service going down, and with both these events being followed by (c) Sony deciding to backtrack and release The Interview film that had made it a target for the dastardly North Koreans in the first place, then ay caramba…the whole world will now be watching how this affair pans out.
