Health Strategy - Right Prescription But No Commitment
"There is nothing new in the Government's Primary Health Care Strategy. The strategy is yet another Government document released with heaps of hype but no funding or other commitments that are necessary to make it work," National MP Wyatt Creech said today.
"Nobody would dispute the need for primary health care to play a greater role in our health system.
"There are a lot of fine ideas in the document but until the Government actually takes the next step and commits to implementing them there won't be any progress.
"New Zealanders were promised the Government would deliver in health. All they have delivered so far is ill-conceived structural reforms and a document full of ideas - including many platitudes and clichés - but no commitment to implement them," Mr Creech said.
