Clark Changes Tack Over Paul Holmes’ Salary |
||
Monday 12th Feb 2001
“Helen Clark has displayed yet another example of her about-face behaviour with her comments over Paul Holmes' salary,” says ACT Spokesman for Broadcasting Penny Webster.
"Last year she stormed into this issue with all guns blazing. She referred to Mr Holmes' salary as `revolting'. Then it was a populist issue - chop down the tall poppy.
"Now, with the criticism of the Draft Charter for TVNZ, Helen Clark changes her stance completely.
“Suddenly the issue of staff wages is an operational matter and none of her business. “Suddenly its ‘up to TVNZ to find the appropriate market price’ for their staff.
“She may be able to fool some people with her chameleon act, but others have far too long a memory for that,” Mrs Webster said.
