The Labour-Alliance Government is not doing enough to
protect New Zealanders from the sort of credit card scam on
the front pages of our papers today, National's Commerce
spokesman Tony Ryall said today.
"Credit card companies in
New Zealand are losing millions and millions of dollars to
Internet fraud. The Government is doing nothing about
that.
"The Computer Crimes Bill currently before
Parliament is a 1980's solution to 21st Century
crime.
"The Government should stop dithering and move
swiftly to put legislation in place and provide authorities
with the tools to protect New Zealand Internet users," Mr
Ryall said.
