The MP for Wellington Central, Marian Hobbs, has welcomed the findings of an Audit Office investigation into the circumstances of her claiming Parliamentary allowances in the previous Parliament.

"I am pleased that the report has been concluded," she said. "I am happy it verifies that I kept Parliamentary Service staff informed, that I sought advice and that I acted on that advice.

"The report speaks for itself.

"I have always been honest and open in respect of allowances but it was very difficult when so many said otherwise.

"I would like to thank all those people who have contacted me with their support during the past months.

"During the investigation I have continued to work as the MP for Wellington Central and it is quite obvious from the people I met that they want politicians to focus on the many important issues facing our country and that is what I intend to do."
