Dairy Infighting Comes As No Surprise To Farmers |
||
ACT MP and dairy farmer Penny Webster said today that people in the industry were not surprised by news of continued political ructions between dairy leaders.
“The scary thing is that this is the pattern for the future. It is worrying that these internal politics are emerging before the votes have even been cast.
“GlobalCo movers should have vigorously sought a CEO from the best talent in the world. Industry leaders need to get real. If they want a company that performs well on the international stage, they need to get the best CEO possible - not make a political appointment.
“Within GlobalCo, an open debate of ideas will be internalised, to the detriment of the shareholders. Under a two- or multi- company model, these discussions produce the vitality that enhances shareholder value.
“The New Zealand economy, which is heavily exposed to the dairy industry, deserves better. And dairy farmers most definitely deserve much better,” Penny Webster said.
