National Endorses Key Findings Of Monetary Policy
Review
National's Finance spokesman Bill English has today
endorsed the Government's response to the key
recommendations of the Independent Review of the Operation
of Monetary Policy conducted by Professor Lars
Svensson.
"National was consulted extensively about this
review and we fully endorse the view that the Governor of
the Reserve Bank should remain as the sole decision maker,
and that the inflation target should remain unchanged," Mr
English said today.
"We are awaiting further details on
how the Reserve Bank might best incorporate external advice,
and look forward to playing an active role in any discussion
of this issue," Mr English said.
