Board Must Take Leadership

The Apple and Pear Board must take a leadership role to resolve the dilemma in the apple industry, ACT MP Owen Jennings says.

"The board was set up specifically to deal with problems in the industry and must move decisively and urgently in the exercise of its powers," Mr Jennings said.

"If the participants in the current debate are unwilling to meet co-operatively to resolve the issue, regulatory board has the ability to ensure a just outcome.

"They must assume leadership for the sake of the many at-risk orcharding families who urgently need to know what their future is," Mr Jennings said.
