Too Late For Red Flags On Genetic Modification |
||
ACT MP Gerry Eckhoff today expressed disappointment over
last-minute protests by Green Party anti-GM zealots, a week
before the Royal Commission on Genetic Modification will be
delivered.
"The Green Party is clearly gearing up to reject the results of the Royal Commission - an inquiry started because of the Green Party's very own efforts.
"It is too late for protests or churlish recriminations. It was appropriate before the inquiry for the Green Party to wave a red flag on sensitive issues. Now that we have witnessed the most comprehensive examination of genetic modification anywhere in the world, we must all be prepared to accept the Royal Commission's findings.
"During the Royal Commission's proceedings, the Green Party expressed support for the composition of the secretariat and for the process.
"It is immature and childish for them to express indignation if the results of this exhaustive process are different from what they had hoped for," Gerry Eckhoff said.
