Jim's Witch-Hunt A Waste Of Time |
||
Jim Anderton should stop wasting time on a witch-hunt over leaked documents about the People's Bank, ACT leader Richard Prebble says.
"Instead, Mr Anderton should realise that if the government was being up front with the public, there'd be nothing to leak," Mr Prebble said.
"Mr Anderton should also ask himself, if the People's Bank is such a good use of $80 million, why does he want to continue suppressing the facts?
"The ACT party wants to assure Mr Anderton that we'll continue to be up front with the public and tell people what a risky project the People's Bank is. It's quite possible the $80 million of taxpayers' money will be lost.
"If Mr Anderton was to do his duty as a Minister to look after the public interest, he'd conclude that the People's Bank is reckless folly and would recommend to Cabinet that the project doesn't proceed.
"ACT is determined to save public funds and stop the bank.
"We'll help Mr Anderton with one fact. He needs to be looking for more than one leaker ' and some of them sit around the table with him," Mr Prebble said.
