The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) should apologise to pilots and doctors following the High Court decision that their health checks were out of order, ACT Transport Spokesman Penny Webster said today.

"The CAA must apologise. They've subjected pilots to expensive and worrisome medical checks, and besmirched the reputations of doctors by questioning their work.

"This should be the end of it. The standards that were being applied prior to all of this were successful. We should return to the status quo, and scrap the Bill before Parliament which would grant CAA authority to perform these medical checks.

"The High Court decision is a vindication for pilots and doctors, and should send a clear message to CAA to desist," Penny Webster said.
