ACT Party Totally Supports War Against Terrorism
Tuesday 13 Nov 2001 Richard Prebble Press Releases -- Foreign Affairs & Defence
ACT leader Richard Prebble says his party's caucus today reaffirmed its total support for the US-led international war against terrorism.
"We'll be asking some tough questions in Parliament over the Alliance's commitment to supporting our troops in Afghanistan," Mr Prebble said.
"ACT agrees with the reported comments of National leader Bill English that the coalition government is duty bound to be able to indicate to the nation that the government fully supports New Zealand military personnel who are being sent into action.
"If Helen Clark can't rely on the 100 percent support of her coalition partner, then the coalition should be dissolved and we should have an election on the issue.
"ACT, as the first party to call for New Zealand to support the US after September 11, is quite prepared to campaign on the issue," Mr Prebble said.
