ACT Leader Part Of International Election Monitor In Solomon Islands
ACT leader Richard Prebble will leave this
morning for the Solomon Islands with two other New
Zealand MPs - Wyatt Creech and Chris Carter - as part of
an international team to monitor the upcoming elections
in the Islands. The team also includes High Commissioners,
police and representatives of non-government
organisations.
Mr Prebble's wife, Doreen, who is a Solomon Islander, is also part of the monitoring team.
Mr Prebble said he was optimistic the election would run smoothly and the international monitoring team would help give confidence to the electoral process.
Mr Prebble will be posted to the island of Malaita.
