Strong Confidence Figures Point To Good Growth
28 March 2002
Finance Minister Michael Cullen today welcomed the solid confidence figures in the latest National Bank Business Outlook saying they augured well for continued good growth.
“I am particularly heartened by the 41 percent positive response to the own activity survey as this tends to provide a more accurate forward indicator than the general business conditions index, although this has also now returned to solidly positive territory.
“The rebound in investment intentions and strong optimism around exports also bode well for the future and suggest the New Zealand economy has now shaken off the worst effects of the global slowdown,” Dr Cullen said.
