Mallard's Sick Comments are Not On

ACT Women's Affairs Spokesman MP Penny Webster said Trevor Mallard's bully-boy joke about `what he'd like to do to John O'Neill and Vernon Pugh' is distasteful and poorly timed.

"In Hawkes Bay, a bunch of teenage boys are appearing in court for allegedly doing with a broomstick what Mr Mallard says he'd enjoy doing with a beer bottle.

"News came through yesterday that among 25 developed countries, our nation has the fifth-highest rate of violence against women.

"The Prime Minister shouldn't be laughing off Mr Mallard's sick joke, she should be appalled that the Minister of Education has reverted to this gutter language," Mrs Webster said.
