No Work Test For Superannuation - Simcock
23 April 2002
"Claims by the Government that National 'has secret plans' to work-test superannuitants is an outright lie," says National's Social Services spokesman Bob Simcock.
Mr Simcock was responding to allegations made by Social Services Minister Steve Maharey in Parliament today
"We have stated, time and time again, that National is absolutely committed to the current superannuation scheme - which guarantees retirement income of 65 per cent of the net average wage at age 65.
"I can categorically deny that we have any plans for work-testing superannuitants.
"Trying to play on the fears of older New Zealanders by making up malicious and bogus allegations like this does little for the Minister's already fast diminishing credibility," Bob Simcock concluded.
