Launch of Early Childhood Strategic Plan

Education Minister Trevor Mallard is tomorrow launching a major plan outlining a ten-year vision for early childhood education in New Zealand.

Pathways to the Future: Ngä Huarahi Arataki, is the first long-term plan for the sector since Before Five in 1989.

The plan is the government’s response to a working party, which involved extensive consultation with the early childhood sector.

“This plan aims to increase participation, improve quality and promote collaborative relationships between early childhood education and parents, schools and other social agencies. This government was committed to the plan in its manifesto in 1999 and is excited to see it come to fruition,” Trevor Mallard said.

Where: Legislative Chamber, Parliament.
When: 10.00am, 12th September
