TVNZ ALLEGATIONS DENIED
National Party Broadcasting spokesperson Katherine Rich said today that the Prime Minister's lawyer, Hugh Rennie QC had responded to her statement released yesterday criticising his involvement in the Corngate case before the Broadcasting Standards Authority , coinciding with speculation regarding Mr Rennie as a possible chairman for Television New Zealand.
“Mr Rennie has assured me that taxpayers are not meeting the costs of the Prime Minister's BSA action against TV3. He has also assured me that he is not seeking appointment as chairman of TVNZ or had any discussion regarding such a position with any MP or Minister.
“ I accept Mr Rennie’s
assurance in relation to the costs of the BSA action and am
pleased to receive Mr Rennie’s advice regarding the TVNZ
chairmanship,” said Mrs Rich.
