Tell Us What Is Happening Please Helen

New Zealand First is calling on the Government to take the public into its confidence and tell them what is really happening over the foreshore and seabed issue.
”The public can only sit, wait and fear the worst because of the Government’s continued silence over this crucial issue,” said Rt Hon Winston Peters.

“The Government has done nothing to allay the fears of the public that their birthright is being negotiated away from them behind closed doors.

“Apart from creating utter confusion and frustration among Maori and alarming the rest of New Zealand the Government has achieved nothing since its initial bluster that it would legislate for the Crown to own the foreshore and seabed.

“If a decision is not going to be made for months, then tell everyone. Stop hiding behind the process of secret negotiations because the public is entitled to know what is going on.

“Stop playing games over this issue and start treating New Zealanders as adults for a change,” said Mr Peters.
