Sir Peter Elworthy will be missed, say Greens
Green Party Co-leaders Jeanette Fitzsimons and Rod Donald have expressed their shock and sadness at the sudden death of Sir Peter Elworthy.
“Sir Peter made an enormous contribution to the GE-free movement,” noted Ms Fitzsimons.
“As a practical farmer and as a businessman he could reach out to those sectors, where his opinions were particularly respected.
“In retirement he was prepared to take on a high-profile position at the Sustainability Council, knowing how controversial it would be. That wouldn’t have worried Sir Peter: he always worked in the best interest of the land.”
“Not only was Sir Peter a very successful farmer and entrepreneur but he was also an incredibly generous and kind person,” said Rod Donald.
“Our thoughts are with
Lady Fiona and the Elworthy family.”
