Arts channel shows success of private sector
The launch of Sky Digital TV's new arts channel is a stunning and exciting initiative, says Dr Paul Hutchison, National's Arts Culture and Heritage spokesperson.
"This new channel demonstrates that the private sector can provide high quality artistic programming without charters or bureaucracy that the Labour Government has imposed on state broadcasters."
The arts channel will broadcast opera, drama, music, arts and literature for five hours every evening.
"I'm thrilled that private individuals and a private company are prepared to take the risk rather than relying upon the Government.
"I congratulate Sky TV and the directors and supporters of the arts channel - they are making a huge positive contribution to the arts, unshackled by Labour Government political correctness," said Dr Hutchison.
