Dunne: Time to end the Zaoui industry
United Future leader, Peter Dunne, tonight called for a swift resolution to the Ahmed Zaoui industry ''which is no doubt providing much for his lawyers and his supporters, but is bleeding the taxpayer dry.''
“With the removal of the SIS Inspector-General from the case, the nation wants to see his replacement appointed swiftly, a rapid resolution of the security certificate status and then the appropriate disposition of Mr Zaoui,” said Mr Dunne.
“Mr Zaoui is no doubt unhappy that the law requires he stay in jail while his case is considered. He can be assured the New Zealand taxpayer is equally unhappy at having to pick up the cost.
“This case has dragged on for far too long and it’s time the whole industry was brought to an end.”
