Free Trade With China

Media Release

15th April 2004

Free Trade With China

“The recent media hype with regard to a possible Free Trade Agreement with China is just another example of the Labour Party trying to dredge up old news and present it as a new idea in the hopes that it can restore its position in the polls” said Dail Jones New Zealand First’s spokesman on Trade.

“It is clear that all the Labour Party is doing is regurgitating information made available in October and there is nothing really new taking place” he said.

“Any possibility of extending New Zealand’s Trade overseas must be welcomed but when one is dealing with China one should also make sure that New Zealand businesses and workers do not loose opportunities as a result” he said.

Mr Jones indicated that he would be keeping a close watch on developments on trade with China but would be ensuring that New Zealander’s job opportunities were not placed at risk.

Gordon Campbell: Putting The SAS Back Into Afghanistan

Who has stolen John Key’s brain? The Prime Minister who only a couple of months ago was demanding to see a viable exit strategy before he would put New Zealand combat troops back into Afghanistan, has been replaced by a John Key impersonator for whom the vaguest of goals – combatting global terrorism – now seems like a darn good reason for doing so.
