Immigration price control archaic solution
The thought that Government should have price controls on immigration consultants is archaic and has no place in a modern economy, National's Immigration spokesman, Wayne Mapp.
He is commenting on a Government announcement that it is to regulate the immigration sector.
"There may be benefit in pruning out incompetent and untrustworthy consultants and goings-on in the sector, but any suggestion of price control is just ridiculous.
"The solution should always be free and open competition. Experience across the board shows that robust competition is the best way to ensure low prices and quality services.
"Price control in immigration is a solution that would be dreamed up only by socialists," says Dr Mapp.
