Media Advisory Green MP in ambulance ride for better conditions
Green MP Sue Kedgley will be riding through Wellington tomorrow in an ambulance to experience first hand the inadequacies of our emergency medical services.
Through the action of Federation of Ambulance Drivers a petition was made calling for improved conditions for drivers. 60,000 signatures were collected.
Ambulance driver Ian McKay said conditions for drivers are highly unsatisfactory and services are under funded. Sometimes drivers have to handle emergency call outs alone.
Sue Kedgley will be filming the trip herself because film crews are banned inside the ambulance.
There will be an opportunity for the media to photograph and interview Sue Kedgley with Ian McKay before they embark on their trip.
Where: Thorndon Ambulance Station, 19 Davis Street, Wellington
When: 2:30pm, Thursday July 29
