Public Should Speak Their Mind Over Access Issues
New Zealand First is urging all interested parties to make submissions to the Local Government and Environment Select Committee with regard to the Overseas Investment (Queens Chain Extension) Amendment Bill.
“New Zealand First will pay particular attention to the issues surrounding this bill, and indeed the whole question of access to coastal areas, lakes, rivers and streams,” said local government spokesperson Jim Peters.
“The public interest of access to waterways has to be balanced with the rights of landowners, and both groups should make their positions clear.
“This is a major issue affecting all New Zealanders and it is important that we get the outcome right,” said Mr Peters.
