Bridge campaign break-through
Northcote MP Ann Hartley is welcoming news that Parliament’s Transport and Industrial Relations Select Committee is backing her bike ‘n hike campaign.
“It’s an idea whose time has come,” she said.
“I’ve been pushing for this since I was on the Birkenhead City Council 20 years’ ago. It is long over due.”
Ann Hartley said that even though Transit New Zealand was now doing a feasibility study on the proposal, it was important that the campaign’s supporters continue to make their views known.
“This campaign has a lot of
popular support in the community,” she said. “We must keep
the pressure
on.”
