Bridge campaign break-through
Northcote MP Ann Hartley is
welcoming news that Parliament’s Transport and Industrial
Relations Select Committee is backing her bike ‘n hike
campaign.
“It’s an idea whose time has come,” she
said.
“I’ve been pushing for this since I was on the
Birkenhead City Council 20 years’ ago. It is long over
due.”
Ann Hartley said that even though Transit New
Zealand was now doing a feasibility study on the proposal,
it was important that the campaign’s supporters continue to
make their views known.
“This campaign has a lot of
popular support in the community,” she said. “We must keep
the pressure
on.”

Yet now with (a) President Barack Obama weighing in on the side of artistic freedom and calling for the US to make a ‘proportionate response’quickly followed by (b) North Korea’s entire Internet service going down, and with both these events being followed by (c) Sony deciding to backtrack and release The Interview film that had made it a target for the dastardly North Koreans in the first place, then ay caramba…the whole world will now be watching how this affair pans out.
