RMA Needs Overhauling - Shirley
"The Resource
Management Act is fundamentally flawed and needs
overhauling", ACT New Zealand Environment and Conservation
Spokesman Ken Shirley told an audience in Hamilton
today.
In a speech to the ACT Waikato regional
conference, Mr Shirley said the RMA was beyond
fine-tuning and tinkering, and now required a fundamental
re-examination of its framework, structure and premise.
"The RMA fails the basic requirement for all legislation to
be sound in principle and incentive - it must be
overhauled," Mr Shirley said.
