Kenneth Wang has today been confirmed as New Zealand's newest Member of Parliament.
Late this morning the Chief Electoral Officer David Henry telephoned Mr Wang asking him whether he accepted the position of MP. Following Mr Wang's acceptance a special supplement of the parliamentary Gazette was issued with the Chief Electoral Officer officially declaring Mr Wang elected.
ACT Leader Rodney Hide said that ACT MPs would break from parliamentary recess to convene for a special caucus meeting this Wednesday morning in Wellington. There, Mr Wang's spokesmanships will be decided.
"The only thing I can confirm ahead of caucus is that we won't be throwing Kenneth token portfolios like Ethnic Affairs. We're only interested in using his many experiences and well-honed skills to the best of their ability," said Mr Hide.
