Rural NZers deserve certainty

Gerry Eckhoff - Press Releases - Rural
ACT Rural Affairs spokesman Gerry Eckhoff today called on Jim Sutton to confirm or deny whether legislation on public access to private land would be introduced this year or before the next election.
"Jim Sutton should stop mucking around and be straight with farmers about when any such legislation to strip them of their property rights will be introduced.
"Both in oral and written questions, the Minister has refused to name a date for when Cabinet will consider legislation, or when it will go to the House for its first reading.
"Farmers were last week left to dwell on the impending threat to their livelihood and way of life while Jim Sutton spent several days carrying Helen Clark's handbag overseas.
"I call on the Minister to stop playing silly games and give rural New Zealand some certainty over what their future holds," Mr Eckhoff said.
