Tax cuts for all New Zealanders major omission from the Prime Minister’s statement
Any mention of tax cuts for all New Zealand workers, be they in the low, middle, or upper income brackets was the major omission from the Prime Minister’s statement this week, according to United Future revenue spokesperson Gordon Copeland.
“This stands in stark contrast to the position across the Tasman in Australia. Over there, it’s not just the government who are talking tax cuts, but also, tellingly, the Labour Party.
“Shadow Treasurer Wayne Swan said yesterday that he’s committed to cutting tax at both the top end and at the bottom.
“He’s committing Labour to cut fat from the Budget to pay for tax cuts to improve work incentives.
“Exactly right! But that hardly sounds like Helen Clark or Michael Cullen, does it?” said Mr Copeland
