Don Brash backs press freedom
National Party Leader Don Brash is backing freedom of the press in the ongoing wrangle over the televised coverage of Parliament.
“I am pleased that ALL of Parliament, not just question-time, will now be televised on a Parliamentary feed that will be available to all channels.
“With seven cameras there will be no secrets. It is a step forward in the coverage of the New Zealand political process.
“However, I do not agree with any blanket ban on commercial television operators. That becomes a matter of press freedom and the National Party Caucus is opposed to any such blanket ban,” says Dr Brash.
