Don Brash comment on British election
National Party Leader Don Brash says the victory of Tony Blair's Labour Government in Britain, by a greatly reduced majority, is bad news for New Zealand's Labour Party.
"Frankly the British Labour Government is not as stuck in the past as the Clark Government, which does make them more electable.
"Elections in New Zealand are usually decided on domestic issues. Here, we have a Government that is firmly wedded to the failed solutions of thirty years ago.
"Just consider the example of education. Some of the proposals I have outlined are advocated by the British Labour Government, but would never be entertained by Helen Clark's Government. Here, the teacher unions are more important than getting results for our children," says Dr Brash.
