PSA fails its members in blind political spin

National Party Deputy Leader Gerry Brownlee is disappointed that the union representing the supposedly neutral public service is refusing to make any apologies for its pro-Labour Party agenda.

"Many PSA members will be disappointed that their union has chosen to embroil them in the election by embarking on a pro-Labour propaganda campaign, when they have received specific instructions from their managers to watch their step in the lead-up to the election.

"Surely, the PSA is there to protect its members from the sorts of attacks we have seen on them from Labour, which has sacked people for supporting the Maori Party and has relentlessly blamed public servants when Ministers screw up.

"The only reason the PSA is backing Labour so strongly is because the Government is offering bribes to public servants who join the union.

"My colleague Tony Ryall is releasing evidence today on that very subject.

"Clearly, the only way a public servant can be seen to maintain their political neutrality is to resign from the union," says Mr Brownlee.
