The Governor-General Dame Silvia Cartwright will this
week travel to Singapore on an official state visit.
Dame
Silvia's programme will include a State welcome, an official
audience with President S.R. Nathan and a State dinner.
Dame Silvia will attend a Higher Education Roundtable
hosted by the Minister of Education, Tharman Shanmugaratnam
and attended by Auckland University Vice-Chancellor Stuart
McCutcheon. The Governor-General will also visit the
Changi Naval Base and the Headquarters Singapore Artillery,
underlining the excellent defence links between New Zealand
and Singapore. She will lay a wreath at the Kranji War
Memorial.
During the absence of the Governor-General from
28 to 30 June 2005, the Chief Justice Dame Sian Elias will
act as Administrator of Government.
