Head down or heroic journey?

National Party Deputy Leader Gerry Brownlee says many New Zealanders will be wondering how Helen Clark knew her high speed dash in the South Island was an 'heroic journey' if she really kept her head down.

"According to Helen Clark's story, she kept her head down working, and at the same time managed to be engrossed in a conversation with Jim Sutton.

"Police witnesses tell a different story, about Helen Clark looking ahead, appearing to know what was going on around her, and congratulating her staff on an 'heroic journey'.

"Today's comments about an 'heroic journey' make a mockery of Helen Clark's earlier story. "Again, I call on Helen Clark to release the statement she gave to the police. Voters cannot trust this woman," says Mr Brownlee.
