National action helps save taxpayer money

National Party State Services spokesman Gerry Brownlee says he is pleased that National Party intervention in the Paula Tyler recruitment case will lead to changes in the way top public servants are hired.

“Without National asking the right questions, the taxpayer may never have known how loose the recruitment process has been. We’re pleased that action is being taken to close the loopholes.”

Mr Brownlee is responding to the convenient release today (World Cup Day) of the report into the recruitment and relocation of the outgoing CYF CEO.

“I applaud Ms Tyler for taking my advice and donating the $25,000 worth of taxpayer funded household furnishings to charity.

“But there are still outstanding questions.

“The risk to the taxpayer in this contract should have been spotted by the recruitment company that was paid $54,000 for its advice,” says Mr Brownlee.

“Is the Government still using this recruitment company?”
