National welcomes NZ-US meeting

National Party Foreign Affairs spokesman Murray McCully says the National Party is pleased to be part of a high-level delegation to the United States, which will discuss ways to strengthen the New Zealand–United States relationship.

The New Zealand United States Partnership Forum will be held in Washington later this month. The New Zealand delegation will include two former New Zealand Prime Ministers, two current ministers, National Party representatives and some of New Zealand’s most senior business leaders.

National Party Leader Don Brash will include a speech to the forum as part of his programme for a two-week visit to Washington, London and Beijing.

Mr McCully says National’s attendance at the forum demonstrates that the party is committed to working with the Government, in a bipartisan manner, to advance New Zealand’s relationship with the United States, particularly with regards to trade.
