Today's newspaper advertisement for Well Child
Nurses to staff the replacement to Plunketline raises
questions about whether McKesson can adequately staff their
call centres, says ACT Health Spokesman Heather
Roy.
"Having taken Plunket's contract, McKesson now seem to want their staff as well", Mrs Roy said.
"A Written Question I asked last year showed that Plunketline was employing 18 full time equivalent staff.
"Plunket spent twelve years building this trusted and experienced team. Plunket Nurses provided a valuable and hugely popular service for over a decade.
"People trained to Plunket's standard are as rare as hens' teeth. Now McKesson has just a few weeks to recruit them.
"The sad irony is that none of this was ever necessary. The Minister of Health could have avoided the failed merger with Healthline and funded Plunketline upgrades instead", Mrs Roy said.
Note: Written Question referred to is 9238 (2005).
