National Billboards talk-up Australia

National Billboards talk-up Australia

The National Party's billboards may be a big thumbs up for Australia, but they offer no vision for New Zealanders, says Education Minister Steve Maharey.

"The billboards show that National has nothing to say about our unique country and no new ideas to offer," Steve Maharey said.

"Don Brash is always telling us that Australia, Singapore, or any where else, is better than us. He never has anything good to say about New Zeland and the achievements of New Zealanders.

"Now is clearly the time to be investing in the drivers of future growth - such as infrastructure, education and research and development ? not cashing up on the gains of the past six years.

"National is demonstrating only that it is irrelevant to New Zealand's future.

"Our message to Digger Don is, if you like Australia so much, go and live there."
