Clark says Audit Office, Solicitor-General wrong

Helen Clark continues to be in denial about her office spending $446,000 improperly on her election pledge card and brochure, says National Leader Don Brash.

"Helen Clark has today accused the Auditor-General and Solicitor-General of 'changing the rules after the event' on spending of parliamentary money by political parties.

"Well, I hate to tell the Prime Minister, but the police found a prima facie case that her office, in authorising the spending, broke the law by going over the limit. Now, it appears the Auditor-General will find Labour acted unlawfully.

"I don't know what else will convince Helen Clark that she is in the wrong.

"Labour bought the last election, and she knows it. I again call on her to give the taxpayer a break, and pay the money back from party funds."
